Abstract

Introduction: The integration of several medical disciplines, including histopathology, is fundamental for the good diagnosis and treatment of disorders. The aim of this study is to assess the contributions of these disciplines in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, and identify the challenges and outcomes linked with their application in local healthcare systems. Methodology: 600 patients from three main hospitals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated in a cross-sectional study. Data came from medical records, diagnostic testing, and professional interviews in the healthcare field. Every discipline's accuracy and efficacy were assessed using statistical tests covering sensitivity, specificity, and association studies. The research came to ends in July 2024. Results: With a mean turnaround time of 5.4 days, histopathology found a 95.2% diagnosis accuracy for malignant tumors. Especially ECGs, physiological testing revealed a sensitivity of 89.7% and a 78.5% specificity for cardiovascular disorders. Within microbiology, 45% of illnesses showed drug resistance while 62% were bacterial. According to pharmacology data, 68% of patients used combination medication; their 14.7% rate of adverse drug responses mostly related to gastrointestinal problems. Conclusion: This study underscores the essential role of histopathology, physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology in the effective diagnosis and management of diseases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The findings highlight the need for multidisciplinary approaches, improved diagnostic accuracy, and better management of antibiotic resistance and adverse drug reactions to enhance patient outcomes in the region.
