Background: Several studies had shown an association of dyslipidaemia with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with an increased risk of cardio vascular diseases. The present study is aimed to evaluate the dyslipidaemia in T2DM subjects. Methodology: The present study is carried out on 100 T2DM subjects and 50 age matched controls. The fasting blood glucose levels, postprandial blood glucose levels, HbA1c percentages, lipid profile (total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein (HDL-C), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C), very low-density lipoprotein (VLDL-C) and triglycerides (TGC)) are measured and appropriate statistical is carried out on the data. Results: Dyslipidaemia is seen in 77% of cases with a prevalence being 93% and 67% in males and females respectively that differed significantly between the groups (p<0.05) with an increased prevalence of dyslipidaemia among males than females. Conclusion: The present study highlights the critical importance of early detection of dyslipidaemia and consistent follow-up to facilitate the early diagnosis of coronary artery disease (CAD) in T2DM subjects
