Abstract

INTRODUCTION The intricate interplay between the gut microbiota and the brain, known as the gut-brain axis (GBA), has garnered increasing attention in biomedical research. (1) The GBA facilitates bidirectional communication between the gut and the central nervous system, influencing various aspects of human health and behavior. Dysregulation of the GBA has been implicated in the pathogenesis of a spectrum of disorders, ranging from gastrointestinal conditions like inflammatory bowel syndrome (IBS) (2,3) to neuropsychiatric disorders such as depression and autism spectrum disorders.
