Background and Objectives: Health status of the tribal population in Maharashtra remains poor. Inspite of several health programmes and schemes launched by Government of India, it has been difficult to approach them due to serious geographical and socio-economic challenges. Data on tribal morbidities at regional level is scarce. Therefore, this study is designed to study the prevalence of various morbidities with respect to BLOSSOM i.e. Breast cancer, Liver disorders, Osteoporosis, Sickle cell disease, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Oral cancers and Malnutrition along with other communicable and non-communicable morbidities. In phase II a team of expert healthcare professionals will be constituted in order to formulate solutions for effective control of the morbidities which will be observed in phase I. Phase III will encompass the implementation of solutions provided by the healthcare professionals through the existing healthcare services. Methods: The study will be a mixed methods study including a cross-sectional quantitative questionnaire-based survey in the phase I for assessing BLOSSOM morbidities, a qualitative component in the phase II in the form of consultative meetings with healthcare professionals and experts to develop solutions to the health problems of the tribal population. Phase III will be implementation research that will comprise of solving the problems faced by the tribal populations by developing and implementing health problem specific solutions through the existing health care services after conducting a detailed situational analysis during the Phase I of the study using a mixed methods design.
