A new coronavirus causing respiratory sickness was discovered in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, and quickly became a global epidemic. The virus, known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is spread through the respiratory system and has the potential to cause pneumonia. Influenza viruses are members of the Orthomyxoviridae family. This family contains four genera, whereas only genera A and B are clinically significant for humans and are responsible for influenza.When a person contacts with more than one infection or virus at the same time it is known as coinfection. In terms of techniques and mechanisms of transmission, clinical characteristics, associated immunological responses, SARSCoV- 2 resembles influenza in several aspects. The significance of the mentioned co-infection and the impending flu season, it is crucial to understand the parallels and differences between the immunopathogenesis, symptoms, and treatments of SARS-CoV-2 and the flu virus.Pathological events and illnesses such as fever, inflammation, lymphopenia, coagulation, DIC (disseminated intravascular coagulation), gastrointestinal problems, elevated APPs(Acute phase proteins), ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), multi-organ failure, and mortality might result from either infection. Therefore, we reviewed the coinfection between flu and covid-19, differences and similarities, risk factors, virology, vaccinations, and immunological similarities between covid-19 and influenza.
