Unmanned Aerial Vehicles in Agricultural Sciences: A Bibliometric Analysis Study Based on Scopas Database

Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have greatly influenced agricultural sciences because they provide novel data-gathering, monitoring, and analysis approaches. Using the Scopus database, this study offers a bibliometric analysis of UAV applications in agriculture, looking at research patterns, significant contributors, and trends from 1990 to 2023. This study finds notable keywords, prolific writers, and influential journals by examining 760 relevant papers. The results demonstrate the growing interdisciplinary character of this study area by highlighting the use of UAVs for forestry management, agricultural monitoring, and precision agriculture. Prominent writers like Lan Y and Kumar A and influential journals like Computers and Electronics in Agriculture and Remote Sensing were discovered. Geographically, the USA, China, and India are the leaders in research productivity; nevertheless, differences in cross-border cooperation are noticeable. A strong emphasis on keyword analysis indicates that the research highlights the changing importance of UAVs in precision agriculture and forestry. Still, there are gaps in environmental stressors and multitemporal analysis. This study emphasises the necessity for ongoing investigation into UAV applications in sustainable agriculture and environmental monitoring, laying the groundwork for future research. Researchers, decision-makers, and industry stakeholders can benefit from the bibliometric study, which offers insightful information on the intellectual framework and potential future directions of UAV applications in agricultural sciences.
