This study examines the role of rewards and recognition in enhancing employee performance within the cooperative societies of Kerala's coir industry. Given the industry's significant contribution to the local economy and employment, understanding the factors that drive employee motivation and performance is crucial. The study adopts a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, and focus groups to gather insights from various stakeholders within the coir industry's cooperative societies. The findings reveal a strong correlation between well-structured rewards and recognition programs and higher employee motivation, satisfaction, and performance levels. The study also highlights the unique cultural and economic context of the coir industry in Kerala, which influences the design and implementation of these programs.The paper argues for a holistic approach to designing and implementing rewards and recognition programs within cooperative societies in the coir industry. By aligning these programs with the workforce's intrinsic values and extrinsic aspirations, cooperative societies can navigate the challenges of modernization and competition, ensuring sustainable growth and development for both the industry and its people.
