Background: Since ancient times, persons who have had chronic or recurrent convulsive disorders, epilepsy, have been treated with varying degrees of respect. Some cultures considered it a divine curse; more frequently, it was considered a demonic possession. Today people with epilepsy still confront superstition, insensitivity, and discrimination. A large proportion of every child’s life is spent at school.
