One of the more traditional medical systems is the Siddha system. Within this system, remedies for a range of ailments have been prepared using herbs, metals, minerals, and animal products. The primary external therapies of the Siddha system are Pugai maruthuvam (Medicated Fumigation), Vedhu (Steaming), and Nasikaparanam (Powder Nasal Application). Siddha medications are classified into two categories: internal and external.
