Background: This study investigates the anxiety experienced by karate athletes participating in competitions. Karate competitions are popular events that allow athletes to showcase their skills and compete for rewards. However, these competitions can also be a source of anxiety for athletes (Baker et al., 2000). Traditionally, karate was an art of war where a single blow could determine the outcome of a fight. Today, karate competitions are governed by safety regulations, making them a healthy sporting activity. However, the competitive nature of these events can still lead to anxiety in participants (Andreato et al., 2022) Despite the potential impact of anxiety on performance, there is a limited body of research on this topic in the context of karate competitions. This study aims to address this gap in the literature by examining the factors that contribute to anxiety in karate athletes and exploring potential strategies for managing it.
