Abstract

Medical tourism is a boon considering the opportunity available for the treatment of certain critical conditions, advanced medical facility and contribution to the gross domestic product. The scope for this particular domain is comprehensive and incorporates the various facets that facilitates the progress and influence on the global health industry. Among the many reasons, geographical reach, diverse medical specialities, healthcare infrastructure, technology innovation, employment opportunities, cross- cultural exchange and quality healthcare improvement are some of the key that predisposes to the government focus on it. This research paper would discuss on the trends of healthcare travel in India along with its challenges and opportunities. Quality and safety, ethical and legal, continuity of care, cultural and communication, travel and logistics, patient vulnerability, data and privacy and healthcare workforce are some of the variables being analysed for the purpose of analysing the trends, challenges and opportunities for healthcare travel. This research paper not only observes the various studies conducted with the similar interests but also through responses earlier collected from the patients and the family who visited for the medical care.
